A Few of My Favorite Things

A Few of My Favorite Things

Hey everyone! With Christmas coming up I thought I'd make a mini gift guide for you guys. I wanted to put a personal twist on it and show you guys items that I own and are some of my most worn, used, and loved pieces.

As you guys probably already know, I buy and sell a lot of clothes. My closet is constantly rotating but these are some of my all time favorite pieces that have lasted with me, and many of these items I wear on the daily. If you have any questions about anything I post feel free to ask me on my Instagram @karen_cheng or comment below. I hope this serves as a good guide for yourself or any loved ones :)

Shoes:

1. Topshop Miles Boot $125: I wear these shoes to work almost everyday, and have featured them countless times in my blog! They are the perfect heeled bootie for us shorter girls and do a great job of elongating legs, especially when wearing black jeans or leggings. I'll be honest, they were REALLY uncomfortable when trying to break them in, and they still aren't the most comfortable pair of shoes in the world, but for a heeled shoe they are really solid and go with everything.
2. Sam Edelman Trina Sandal $59.99: These are the most amazing sandals I've ever owned. I've had these sandals for about 3 years and I loved them so much that when the first ones fell apart after me wearing them everyday in rain, festivals, etc. for a year, I repurchased them online. They are perfect for spring and summer and go perfectly with any warm weather outfits.
3. Sam Edelman Joey Boot $109.90: I got these boots a few months ago and they are a perfect everyday boot. They were a little tough to break in but once you do they are so much more comfortable & are perfect to go with pretty much every outfit!
4. Nike Flyknit Lunar 3 $134.99: I'm sure everyone has seen these sneakers by now but I wanted to reiterate how comfortable these really are. My boyfriend got me these sneakers last year for Christmas and they were the perfect shoes for working out and running. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned and I highly recommend them for a gift or for yourself.

Clothes:

1. Madewell Rivington Sweater Coat $178: I have already blogged about this sweater coat a few posts ago here, but I cannot emphasize how much I love it! I've only owned it for about 2 months but I've worn it SO much already. It's soft, oversized, and the perfect outer layering piece for winter. Every time I wear it I get at least one person that asks me where it's from and I'm actually regretting not buying both colors haha. This runs really oversized and I got an XXS in it, so I would suggest sizing down one or two sizes from what you normally wear.
2. Urban Outfitters Twig High Rise Skinny Jean $58: These are my holy grail jeans. I'm really picky about what jeans I buy because I don't like how a lot of the high waisted ones fit on me, and low sitting jeans don't really work well with my body shape. However, these jeans are so perfect and I probably wear them at least 350/365 days of the year. They were a little long on me so I got them tailored to my leg length, so if they are long on you I would suggest doing the same! It makes your jeans look a lot cleaner and it's worth it to have a better fit.
3. Stone Cold Fox Idaho Blouse $220: Okay so this top is REALLY pricey. I got it for a major discount from Urban Outfitters a long time ago because they were having a huge sale on it. Unfortunately because this top is about a year old I think only Revolve still has it in stock. If you are willing to shell out the cash though or want to treat yourself or a loved one, this top is beautiful and is the perfect mix between looking nice without feeling too fancy. I wear it all the time when I go out for dinner, or catch up with friends that I haven't seen in a while with some jeans and booties.
4. Reformation Avalon Bodysuit $78: Ahh yes, the criss cross bodysuit. Nearly every girl has some variation of this bodysuit now and it is so overdone but I have to say it's still one of my favorite items! I wear it almost every time I go out to bars with denim shorts because the long sleeves keep me warm. The bodysuit is sexy without making you feel TOO exposed. Unfortunately it's sold out on Reformation but the bodysuit is being resold on a lot of places online.

Accessories:

1. JNB Love Necklace $128: I got this necklace for $30 at a sample sale. Unfortunately online it's still full price which makes me a little bit hesitant to recommend. However, If you are willing to shell out some dough, I truly LOVE this necklace and wear it every single day. It goes with almost everything and is a simple, everyday piece.
2. Princess Polly Arizona Belt $25: If you read my blog, you have definitely seen this belt all over the place. It is my favorite belt and I love wearing it with dresses, high waisted pants, and jeans. Unfortunately it is a little small and is meant to be worn around the waist rather than the hips, so if you do want to wear it around your hips I suggest sizing up.
3. Nordstrom Reversible Tote $48: I use this tote everyday for work and it is perfect for someone like me - I like to throw a bunch of shit in my bag to work: water bottle, laptop, notebook, medicine, lotion, etc. I'm a crazy asian mom in training that packs everything to the movie theater hahahha. But really, it is a great size and quality for an everyday bag where you need to pack a hefty amount of stuff!
4. Child of Wild Gojjam Choker $48: This choker is definitely a statement piece and is not subtle but it's such a badass piece to wear when you are feeling ~edgy~. I've worn this to multiple festivals and it is just a fun, cool piece to dress up a basic outfit.

Misc:

1. Target Sweater Knit Blanket $33: So I have my old roommate to thank for this blanket. When I lived with her I always borrowed it around the house and I loved it so much I now own two myself! It is a perfect cozy blanket to use on the couch and as a layer in the bed. I loved the knitted texture of it and it comes in multiple colors. Just another reason to be obsessed with Target.
2. Target Sugar Paper Weekly Planner $14.99: I bought this planner a few months ago and it is a great everyday planner for people who have A LOT to write down! There are a lot of bougie, fancy planners out there but I find that they never give me enough space for all the shit I like to put. This is perfect because it gives me space to make lots of daily to do lists, while also overlooking a monthly calendar. The cover is cardboard so you have to take care of it if you don't want it to rip or fray at the edges, but otherwise it is a great gift for 2017.
3. Amazon HerStyler exStenso Curling Wand $18.23: A lot of people ask me how I curl my hair and I tell them that I swear by this product. I'm not a fan of normal curling irons with the tong because I'm not very handy with it and end up getting my hair tangled in it. This wand is sold in mall carts too but for $100 more, don't make that mistake and just buy it on Amazon for cheap. Unfortunately it does look like a long sex toy and your friends will make fun of you when you use the glove to keep yourself from burning your hand but this shit WORKS, at least on my hair anyway.
4. Diptyque Roses Candle $32: When I first saw this candle I nearly had a heart attack because it was so expensive for a freaking candle. However, I ended up having a $25 off coupon from Neiman Marcus and decided to try it out. And oh my god it smells SO AMAZING!!! This is a perfect gift for a bougie grandma or someone who likes luxury items, without having to break the bank TOO much. It is definitely expensive for a candle but it is by far the best one I have ever used and makes the entire room smell like lovely roses.
5. Chloe Eau de Parfum Pen Spray $28: Everyone is super particular about what scents they like to use, but this is my favorite perfume scent so far! I prefer this pen spray size over the normal perfume size because I like to throw it in my bag and spray myself on the go, but as a gift the normal perfume size is packaged beautifully and would be a great gift for a girlfriend, mom, or aunt.

SO, If you guys made it down to the bottom of this list... thank you for reading through this long ass post!! Hopefully this list will give you guys some ideas for gifts for yourself or others, and they all have my stamp of approval on it so if you don't like them you can hate me forever hahaha.
